Bienvenue à L'Etoile du Nord!

It has been said that a second language is one of the best gifts a parent can give a child. L’Etoile du Nord French Immersion (LNFI) is the only French immersion school in St. Paul. Our goal is to have all of our students speak and understand French by grade 5.  With many native French speakers on staff and a highly-involved parent community, LNFI offers remarkable learning opportunities to our students.

Family Service Fair

The LNFI PTO, with support from Team Respect, is hosting its first Family Service Fair on Thursday, April 23, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  (Lower Campus gymnasium and cafeteria).   Families will rotate through different “stations” to complete simple projects (dog and cat toys, fleece blankets, greeting cards, and sandwiches) that will be donated to local non-profits.  We also will clean up the LNFI neighborhood and collect donations for a homeless shelter and an animal rehabilitation program.

Participation is FREE, and a simple dinner will be provided for those who wish to bring a donation item or make a $2 donation to help defray the evening’s costs.  Because this is a new event, we would like to have an idea of how many people will be eating dinner.  If you think your family will participate, please RSVP here

We need a few volunteers. Volunteers will help prepare (at home) the evening’s projects, help staff the project tables, prepare and serve a simple dinner, and deliver the projects when we are finished.  You can sign up to volunteer here

La Fête du Printemps

Tickets are now on sale for the Fête du Printemps!  Join other LNFI parents, guardians, and staff to celebrate spring on Saturday, May 16, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the U of M St. Paul Student Center – North Star Ballroom.

The Spring Party is a fun, casual, adult-only party and fundraiser to support the intern program and enrichment activities at LNFI.  The evening will include:

  • a $1 wine and beer raffle.
  • a silent auction of beautiful classroom art.
  • a fabulous concert by Erik Brandt (LNFI parent) and the Urban Hillbilly Quartet
  • sign-ups for Great Teacher and Family Gatherings.
  • a silent auction.  Local businesses have donated wonderful items including gift certificates to Total Wine, Walt Disney, W.A. Frost, Surly, St. Paul Saints, and more.

Purchase tickets from the Spring Party Website or send a check with the flyer that went home in backpacks.

Intern Program

This important LNFI program relies heavily on parent volunteers to thrive.  We are making great strides to bring back the Intern Program and make it better than ever, but need more helping hands.  Please consider joining the intern committee or just helping us out with specific tasks and activities!

Please consider hosting or partnering with an intern to help us reach our goal of 25 host families and 12 partner families! We cannot bring interns to LNFI next year without family involvement. Visit here for more information or to fill out an application.

Spring Pictures

Spring pictures will be Wednesday, April 15. Each class will take a class photo together. Individual student pictures will be pre-paid. Therefore if you would like a spring picture, please pay on that day. Students without payment will not be photographed individually. Envelopes have been sent home with students
