It has been said that a second language is one of the best gifts a parent can give a child. L’Etoile du Nord French Immersion (LNFI) is the only French immersion school in St. Paul. Our goal is to have all of our students speak and understand French by grade 5.  With many native French speakers on staff and a highly-involved parent community, LNFI offers remarkable learning opportunities to our students.

Tzedakah Box Fundraiser

The week of March 2, each classroom will collect money as a contest and to help fund classroom libraries. The students in the classroom raising the most money will win a small prize. Each day of the week, students are encouraged to bring donations in the following denominations:

  • 3/2   Pennies  
  • 3/3   Nickels 
  • 3/4   Dimes
  • 3/5   Quarters  
  • 3/6   Paper Currency
Grandparents' Day
Grandparents/VIPs Day, Wednesday, March 18:
Grandparents and VIPs are invited to attend LOWER CAMPUS ONLY from 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18. The VIPs will enjoy breakfast with the students, reading, songs, and a trip to the Scholastic Book Fair (if they are interested)!  Parents, please let your VIPs know the date and watch for a backpack flyer coming home with more information soon.
School Dance

All-School NEON Family Dance at Upper Campus on Friday, March 13, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.:

Come and enjoy the FREE all-school family dance! LNFI families are invited to attend this event where DJ, M. Beni, will be spinning the tunes! Black lights will be illuminating those wearing NEON and white clothing. Snacks, beverages, and glow accessories will be sold during the event. The class with the most students in attendance will win a pizza party! In addition, families attending the dance will have a one-time opportunity to purchase tickets to the LNFI Spring Party (Sat. May 16) for a discounted rate: 2 tickets for $40.

French Speaking Volunteers

We are currently seeking French-speaking individuals

  • to volunteer in classrooms, working with small groups of students
  • to student-teach in classrooms, collaborating with the classroom teacher to plan and deliver instruction.
  • to join our team as a teacher assistant or teacher candidate for next school year!

Our Principal

Principal Fatima Lemtouni is a fluent native French speaker who also speaks three other languages – Berber, Arabic and English. She brings a wealth of experience to her new position, including a background in teaching different languages to both native and second-language English speakers.
