Homework Policy

2nd GRADE HOMEWORK POLICY

Homework is
homework
a necessary and integral part of the learning process.  The benefits of homework include the reinforcement of academic skills, as well as the development of student responsibility, self-discipline, and intellectual independence.

Students will usually receive homework every night.  If there isn't any homework sent, students can work on their addition, subtraction facts, spelling words, or read.  A typical night of homework will include an assignment

in Reading, Math, and one other subject.  Additionally, We ask that students read at least 20 minutes per night.  What they read is entirely up to them.  The goal is to get students reading.  The more they enjoy what they are reading, the more they will read.

Daily homework is due the day after it is assigned (unless otherwise specified).  Students absent due to illness will be given the necessary time to make up missed assignments.

Students in Second grade are able to work up to 20-30 minutes per day.  Contact your child’s teacher immediately if he or she is consistently spending an excessive amount of

time on homework.
