Class Intern Schedule
This year we are very fortunate to work with Mademoiselle Melanie Aubrey from France. She comes from the East of France, from a city called Besancon.  She's a graduate student completing her masters degree and would like to become an English teacher in a few years.

Mlle Aubrey works as a co-teacher and assistant in the classroom.  She performs a wide variety of tasks such as teaching lessons to the whole group, working in small groups and working individually with students.  Most importantly, she shares her language and culture with the students every day!

Mlle Aubrey is working in the classroom for three and a half hours per day, except on Friday's where she works only half day (one hour for us).  She arrives at 10:15 to either teach a math lesson to half the class or helps assist students during math work time until 11:00.  Then she returns back to class and stays with us from 1:00 - 3:45.  During this time, Mlle Aubrey is available to read  stories and then assist students during their language arts work time.  She will help students stay on task with their work as well as provide support or enrichment during student work time.  Later in the year, we
will start classroom centers and she will be responsible for a small group of students.  If students need extra time to complete work or have extra tutorial, she helps students during recess time on this.  During Writer's Workshop, she takes dictation from students and models how to correctly form French sentences for writing.  As the students move towards forming sentences on their own, she will help students stretch out words to try and write the sounds and letters they hear that form those words (sound spelling).  In addition to above, Mlle Aubrey helps prepare the children for dismissal assisting with coats, folders, and backpacks.

Families in our classroom are encouraged to become acquainted with our interns.  They always appreciate opportunities to meet new families and gain new cultural experiences.  Invitations to dinner, the zoo, a museum, a bike ride, or a special community activity/event are welcomed by them and  help offer our native French interns a new perspective on American life.  In addition to this, our interns are available for babysitting and tutoring!  Please refer to the Student/Family Directory for the intern's contact information.
