What is Spelling Bee?

 

The Spelling Bee purpose isto help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learnconcepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them all theirlives.

How does it work?

At each grade level (grade 4 through 6) the contest consists of one meet classroom word list practice and school enthusiasm building for the bee

Plan spelling clubs afterschool

Host a family-night showing of Akeela and the Bee

Hold class spelldowns and site bees

How can I help my childprepare?

Students prepare for localspelling bees using a variety of materials provided by us and Merriam-Webster, and they advance to the Scripps National SpellingBee near Washington, D.C., by winning a series of spellings as outlined bytheir local spelling bee sponsors. In general terms, the program is open tostudents who have neither turned 16 nor passed beyond the eighth grade, and whoattend schools that officially enrolled with our program for the currentacademic year.
