My passion for Elementary Education and for French have brought me to   L'Etoile du Nord French Immersion.  This will be my fourth year at LNFI.  I am a Canadian trained teacher with over 13 years teaching experience. My previous positions include being a 5th grade teacher in a partial immersion school in Halifax, Nova Scotia and as an Elementary level (K-8) French teacher in London, Ontario.

I  have studied at the University of Calgary, Université Laval, and the University of Western Ontario. Since moving to U.S.A., I have completed the Technology Integration Certificate, the Immersion Education Certificate and the Master of Education in Learning Technologies at the University of Minnesota. I am licensed in K-12 French and in Elementary Education in the State of Minnesota.

My family and I moved to United States and the Twin Cities area in the summer of 2002. I have two children; my daughter, Alex, is a junior at U of M and my son, Simon, is a freshman at University of Wisconsin-Stout We all love the outdoor life and natural beauty of Minnesota. In my free time I enjoy skiing, walking, and rowing.

Languages and cultures, children, immersion education, and experiential education have been my personal and professional life for many years. In the past, I have taught at a variety of schools (Andersen Open Jr. High (Mpls), Central H.S., Hazel Park Academy, and Webster Magnet Elementary) and this will be my 6th year at LNFI.  I have a B.A. in French and Secondary Education from Washington University in St. Louis, an M.S. in Experiential Education from Mankato State University, and licensure in French and Spanish K-12 as well as Elementary Education.  As an immersion professional, I believe that students must gain not only linguistic competencies in French - they must also have a chance to learn of the people, places, and cultures of the world that use French (La Francophonie) as well as other languages and cultures.

My interest in the French language and cultures started in a 7th grade French class, and continued on in high school when I took my first trip to France. Just out of high school,  I also became a counselor at Lac du Bois, the French Language Village of Concordia Language Villages where I still work today. I continued my studies of French in college, and spent a year in Caen, France during my junior year. Following my graduation, I settled in the Twin Cities with various teaching jobs. I have lived in France, Spain, Switzerland, Quebec, and Cameroon. I am thrilled to be teaching at LNFI   and really love the many aspects of immersion teaching.
