My name is Dr. Carolyn Veglia Young or just Dr. Veglia for short. This is my first year at Capitol Hill and I am excited to be joining such a wonderful school.
I received my nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania and my doctorate from the University of Minnesota. I have been a board certified pediatric nurse practitioner for 16 years, caring for children and families in both primary care clinics and in the emergency room. Most recently, I have worked as a teaching specialist in the School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota. I am passionate about keeping kids healthy and LOVE working with children and their families
I was born and raised in Massachusetts but have been living here in the Twins Cities for the last 16 years. I am so happy to call Minnesota home. I live in South Minneapolis with my husband and three children, ages 9, 11 and 13. When I am not in school, I enjoy time with my family, movies, reading, taking walks and spending time with friends.
As a school nurse, I am dedicated to protect the health and safety of students and enhance the educational process by addressing health related barriers to learning. School health focuses on hygiene, exercise, nutrition, emotional well-being and management of chronic health conditions.
The Student Health Office provides first aid, chronic health condition management, care coordination including asthma, diabetes, behavioral health, and management of allergies and anaphylaxis.
I look forward to working collaboratively with our students, families, teachers, staff and health care providers to support and enhance our children’s educational success at Capitol Hill.
Healthy children are better learners!
I am scheduled in the Student Health Office Monday-Friday. Please stop by the office or contact me.
Looking forward to a great year.
