In light of recent national and global events, I want to take a moment to express our school's continued support for the children and families that we are privileged to serve each and every day.
At Maxfield, we welcome everyone into our school with open arms and an open heart. Our rich history and diversity is our greatest strength. We honor and recognize that strength every day. From the good morning fist-bumps I receive to the 'see you tomorrow' hugs staff are blessed with at dismissal, our school is filled with love and acceptance.
These days I am also reminded of the power of Sankofa. Sankofa is a term from the Akan people in Ghana and is roughly translated to mean "go back to reclaim that which is lost in order to move forward." In other words, there is great wisdom in our past that can help ensure a strong future. We all stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us. With their wisdom guiding us, we will overcome any obstacle in our path and achieve greatness for our scholars.
Regardless of what happens in the world around us, know that all are welcome here. No exceptions.
All are welcome here.
