About M. Barter
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new principal of our vibrant French immersion community. My name is Andrew Barter, and I have spent over two decades as a French teacher and school leader, most recently serving as assistant principal at South St. Paul Middle School. I’m passionate about language immersion and building school communities where all students feel known, challenged, and inspired to grow.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, reading, and riding my bike. A few fun facts about me: I have lived and worked in France, Canada, and Madagascar and I met my wife while taking students on a school trip to France. These experiences that remind me just how powerful and life-changing language learning can be.
L’Etoile du Nord has a strong reputation for joyful learning, deep community, and a love of language and culture—and I’m thrilled to now be part of it. I look forward to getting to know you and supporting your children’s growth both in and out of the classroom.
