Academics at L’Étoile du Nord French Immersion
At L’Étoile du Nord French Immersion School, students develop strong academic skills while becoming confident bilingual learners. Through our full French immersion program, students learn core subjects in French while building literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that prepare them for success in middle school and beyond.
Our classrooms are active, engaging spaces where students explore ideas, collaborate with classmates, and develop curiosity about the world around them. Teachers provide standards-based instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies while supporting each student’s individual learning journey.
By learning in two languages, students not only gain academic knowledge — they also build cultural understanding, flexibility in thinking, and the ability to communicate across cultures.
A Strong Foundation in Two Languages
Our French immersion model allows students to naturally develop bilingualism while learning grade-level academic content. In the early grades, most instruction takes place in French so students can build strong language foundations. As students move through elementary school, English instruction is gradually introduced while students continue developing their skills in both languages.
Research shows that immersion students perform as well as — and often better than — their peers in English language arts while gaining the lifelong advantage of bilingualism.
