Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run provides research-based tools, strategies and activities to strengthen girls' emotional and physical health.
Girls on the Run is an educational running program for girls in grades 3-5. Trained volunteer coaches inspire girls to build confidence through interactive lessons and physical activities. GOTR's research-based curriculum has three main parts:
- Understanding ourselves
- Valuing relationships and teamwork
- Recognizing how we can shape the world
GOTR lessons focus on building social, emotional and physical skills in participants while encouraging healthy habits for life. Girls work on developing important life skills such as building self-confidence, managing emotions, showing empathy, and fostering healthy relationships.
During a GOTR season, participants meet after school with volunteer coaches for 16 sessions. Each season comes to an end with a fun, non-competitive 5K Celebration. This culmination gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment and the confidence to be the authors of their own stories.
